Completion day. How does it work?
More of an interest question really and specifically about a remortgage. So how does it work? Obviously a completion date gets set but what happens on that day? What steps are to be done by a solicitor? Like are all the payments set to go and it's just a matter of them making sure or is it a more manual process? I guess…

Sanity check - overpaying interest only
Long time lurker, first time poster needing to ask a stupid question... I have an interest only mortgage which I have been happily repaying for many years now on the basic understanding that my overpayments were reducing the capital of the loan. I today read the following from Which: "On a repayment mortgage, paying extra…

Can I borrow more to make home imporvements?
I'm a first time buyer looking to purchase a home for £150,000 with a £15,000 deposit. This means I will need a mortgage of £135,000 but I've been told I can borrow up to about £165,000. Does this mean that I could borrow my full potential and use the extra £30,000 to spend on much needed work to the property?

Mortgage, move & savings question...
Sorry for the vague and generic title, but I really can't think of a way of summing this question up easily... We're in the process of moving house (not quite at exchange, but chain complete, surveys done, mortgages arranged all along the line, searches currently being carried out). The move isn't expected to take place…

How much are interest rates going to go up by.
Hi, i'm a first time buyer and Interest rates seem quiet daunting. Speaking to my parents who said they were 12%+ around 1991-1992. Will this happen again? Or is there a set proceedure to stop it happening again? I could afford (just) for them to go to 10%, but still quiet worrying, or am I over reacting? Thanks, Marcus.

Britannia claiming overpaid refund
I ended my mortgage with Britannia last July and moved to HSBC. In August 2016 some money was paid into my account by Britannia. I assumed, as happened on previous occcasions when I remortgaged, that this was a refund of money I'd overpaid on redemption. Apparently not, they're now sending me threatening letters asking for…

The lodgers in current residential home count as income too. But some BTL…
