Joint interest only Mortgage but only one person with endownment
hi I was wondering of anyone could give some advice. My Mum and Dad took out a 25 year mortgage in 1992 through a mortgage broker. My Dad was nearly 58 at the time so the endowment was very expensive to have him named on it so the broker advised them just to have my mum named on it instead. Unfortunately my Dad died 2…

Will I be charged anything by my solicitor?
Hi, I've started a few threads on here about me turning down a property so I'm trying to answer as many other queries as I can to make up but I have one more question. I found a solicitor, signed agreeing to their terms and then emailed them my ID documents. They said they were fine and asked if I could pay an amount up…

Fixed Rate Mortgage
Hi Quick question..... If I am currently paying 1.74% interest on a mortgage and I can save in ISA that gives me 2.00 interest (tax free). I am right in thinking saving in the ISA is more beneficial than potentially paying the mortgage company monthly (overpayments)? Am I missing other costs that I need to consider?

A full mortgage offer is better than an AIP, right?
Ok I know you're probably thinking this is a stupid question but I have been through the 3 hour meeting, had underwriters check my application and have had a full mortgage offer in the post. I was going to buy a flat but found out something bad about it on the valuation so am now looking for another property. After…

Going from joint to single mortgage (but still with husband)
Me and my then boyfriend, now husband got a mortgage together back in 2011. This week I had a massive blow when I realised a credit card debt had got hugely out of hand and I have a fresh default on my credit report. We're half way through selling our current home and buying a new one. After chatting to our IFA he thought…

Mortgage for new build
I've used a broker to help me get a mortgage for a new build (using help to buy). He has done what he called a 'soft' credit check on us which went through ok. Our details passed the affordability check. I've checked my Experian report and have no previous adverse credit. I'm just worried that, having to put down £500…

First Home mortgage application but I gambled 2.5k last night :( Is it game over?
Hi there, Last night I stupidly gambled after a few drinks and managed to spend £2500.00 in a few hours online. So stupid I know and couldn't sleep as it only dawned on me afterwards that this will show on my bank statement and currently in the process of looking at my first home. Cold sweats were happening, not nice! I…

Hi, I'm going to be applying for a sole mortgage application shortly. The deposit is sitting in a joint bank account with my wife. The balance is roughly 90% from my salary and 10% from my wife's self employment. My wife isn't applying for the mortgage with me because she doesn't have permanent right of residence in the…

How easy is it to change the property with a new mortgage?
I had an offer accepted on a flat but then the valuation showed that it was of non-standard construction so I no longer want to buy it due to the fact that it could prove very hard to sell in the future with only a few lenders willing to mortgage non-standard properties. How easy or hard is it going to be to just change…

Hi - my partner and I are looking to purchase a house together. She already owns a home and we were advised today to start exploring the buy to let options with her current lender (HSBC) She's just got off the phone with them, they've said they don't give buy to lets to people who are looking for a new mortgage, and only…

Foreign wage mortgage....
Hi, Any help would be appreciated. I am a UK citizen, working abroad with a foreign wage, which gets converted to sterling on pay day. Finding it a problem to re-mortgage, as new laws/rules came into force last year I think. Making it harder for the likes of me to get a mortgage, as banks just refusing to accept our…

Really not sure after 2nd viewing. What to do?
I viewed a property weeks ago and loved it so went out and got the mortgage. I went back to view it today and I'm just not sure what to do now. The first thing I noticed was loud music from next door which is something I just can't stand. There were several other things I discovered such as much more work being needed than…
