mortgage chances?
I have several defaults in my credit history. I will be debt free hopefully in 6 months. This will be by way of partially settled accounts that originally defaulted in 2010 and 2011. By the time me and my partner will be looking for a mortgage, we will have around 5% deposit. Her credit is squeaky clean but mines not in…

Helping mum with a new mortgage now she's retired?
My MiL has hit us with a bit of a bombshell - her interest only mortgage has to be paid off in a year's time, and she says she'll be £30K short. What are our options regarding a remortgage? Presumably as she's retired she will no longer be able to get one? Would it be possible for it to be our names on the mortgage rather…

Chances of getting B2L mortgage whilst on Fixed Term Contract
So...as of the end of the this month, I will have been made redundant. Plan was to buy a B2L in October on 75% LTV. Really don't want to do 60% as with redundancy I'd have a decent amount for two B2Ls. I am going through 2 other business' payroll as an employee with a total income of £14k (£6.5k and £7.5k each) which was…

West Bromwich Building Society - are they any good?
I was looking at 5yr fixed terms and came across west bromwich bs, the rates are better than santander plus they assist with legal fees though when I called them to ask how much on legal assist fees I was told I need to have a 2hr conversation with a mortgage adviser just to get that answer which I was ready to do so they…

Will we be accepted for a new mortgage?
My partner and I have a cash 15% deposit (£28,500 of a £190,000) house, but I have had a chequered financial past... a settled default which will be 6 years old in August, and a number of missed payments (about 10 in total across 3 accounts) going back between 2 and 4 years. Since then I have been squeaky clean, we have no…

Santander and electrics?
My survey has just been done and the surveyor mentioned that the old fuse box might be a problem for Santander - they could withhold part of the mortgage. He said that he wouldn't specifically mention it in his report, just say that the electrics were inkeeping with the age of the property. How likely are they to withold…

Help to buy percentages
How does the Help to buy percentages work out? In all the examples they show 5% from you, 20% from the Gov and then 75% from the lender. Is it correct to assume if you fronted up 10% that the Gov would then reduce their part to 15% and the lender in all scenarios provides 75%?
