Nationwide mortage calculator - first time confused buyer
Anyone else used this site to see how big a mortgage they could get. Although I have zero debt, I was surprised I could, in theory, get 163k based on 32k annual income. In your experience, is that a likely figure or should I expect it to be much lower in reality? Does the size of the deposit affect your mortage offer?

Enjoy low rates for ~year before long term fix
So, my bet is that interest rates will remain at 0.5% for around 18 months. Is there a way for me to enjoy current very low rates for that period of time (i.e. avoiding 2-year fix), then go for a long term fix? Or is this a risky strategy and the longer time goes on, the less favourably low long term fixed rates there will…

Interest due when mortgage repaid
We are just going through the final throws of paying off our interest-only mortgage but wondered if we had any claim to a small reimbursement from the building society to whom we have paid so much over the past 25 years? We started the year with a balance of around £47000 and repaid just over £23000 in May when our…
