Help needed! Mortgage promise with job change

We have received a mortgage promise from Halifax expiring in Feb. We have put in an offer on a flat that might be accepted. We have also put our current flat on sale. But, I might be considering changing my perm job to another perm job. The new job would be in the same IT sector, but a higher position and higher pay. There will be a probation of 6 months. The new job would start in Mid Jan. Is it possible that our mortgage promise or offer would be retracted in this case? Do I need to be employed by the same company for more than 2 years to apply for a mortgage?

The probation may not be a major issue, but when the new job is added to the application, we don't know if the rest of the case will be strong enough to keep it above the credit score "accept" level. That will be determined by all the other answers you give on the application.
You do not need to work for a firm for two years. You don't have to work for them for two minutes. A written offer and a commencement date can be enough, subject to credit score...I am a mortgage broker. I was going to ask this very question as my wife's moving to another firm approx. 2 weeks before our anticipated completion date.
We initially applied through a broker, who said that the change of employer made no difference as it was within the same profession, and to a higher paid, more senior role. They also assured me that the mortage lender looks at the current employment status, and that the job change would not be an issue.
Reading through a few threads on here I'm not so sure this is prudent.
I'm now completing an application form for a mortgage with Chelsea BS having gone to them directly. Think I'll pick up the phone and speak to the Chelsea adviser before paying the application and survey fees! I guess they'll need a cover letter or somesuch, as there's nothing on the form to detail a change in employment status.0
