Mortgage Advice Required
Hi, We live in a home that when we bought we could afford the mortgage, we put £20,000 down and took out a mortgage for the remaining £180,000. The property is probably worth a little over £200k. Since then I have been made redundant and am basically on minimum wage part-time looking after 2 children and studying to try…

Porting a Nationwide BMR deal
Lots of porting questions I see on these boards but all slightly different details so would just like to clarify... I was on a 2 year tracker from the end of 2007 which then reverted to the BMR of 2.5% which is currently a great rate (until intrest rates start to rise). Is this still likely to be portable? Currently owe…

£4,200 net income per month and can't get a mortgage!
My fiance and I both have good, stable jobs and we earn £4,200 (net) between us a month. We have found a beautiful house that we would love to buy and have a 10% deposit, but have been refused a mortgage with NatWest on the basis that our credit rating is not good enough. Having checked our credit ratings, we are both at…

Remortgage and maternity leave
Would a picky lender like FirstDirect(or any for that matter) refuse a remortgage or reduce the income multiple for someone on maternity leave. Im looking at FD offset 3 year fixes. The mortgage application would just about coincide with the start of maternity leave during which the applicant would still be on full pay.…

Mortgage Application Questions - Proof of Income and Deposit
For our mortgage application, we are each providing the last 3 months of payslips. Both sets are original documents from large organisations. Are they likely to still need to send off for references from our employers? Also, we said on the phone the deposit is to be funded with proceeds from sale plus savings. On the form…

Moving home - negative equity
Hoping for any advice / help? We bought a one bed apartment in 2006 for £85,000 as a FTB. We took this on a 100% mortgage (yes I know - big mistake - we used the deposit towards our wedding) and currently owe £75,000 as we have been making overpayments for 3 years. We want to move house but the apartment is now valued at…

Do Lenders Cosider Overtime when Deciding How Much to Lend?
Been doing overtime for about 6 months now which tyipcally brings in an extra £600 (£450 after tax) to my monthly pay packet. I can evidence this with pay slips. Would a lender include this in their multiples when working out an offer and if so how? Would they take an average over 6 months (the amount does fluctuate a bit).

Offset Mortgage - Pay off or leave as is???
I've had a First Direct Offset mortgage for the last couple of years (£400K fixed at 3.29%) paying on average £850 per month. In the meantime an inheritance coupled with existing savings has meant that my savings will equal the mortgage amount and therefore I will effectively not be paying out on the mortgage in the…

HSBC and Countrywide fiasco
Many posters on this site and on other online forums are rightly angry with HBSC for forcing them to use their ridiculously restrictive panel of appointed solicitors in order to borrow money from them. The reality has been a total disaster for a great many people, particularly FTB’s who now will have to pay Stamp Duty…
