cross over of addresses - declined mortgage app

Hi There,
I would really appreciate any info or knowledge folks might have on this as I'm baffled and so is my broker - that's what he says.
AIP from Nationwide - I apprecicate this is until they do the checks.
All the checks came back ok, employers reference, letting agents reference and credit rating/report all ok.
Went to the final underwriter and got declined on the basis of a 'cross over of addresses' from my last address and this one. I've been in current property 1 year and in previous 6 months both as a private tenant.
What does this cross over of addresses mean in relation to the application and why would it be declined because of this? Is it worth appealing the decision?
many thanks

Firstly, the Nationwide AIP is a credit check and typically the AIP's with them do not change. I would imagine they have linked you to another address which was not submitted as part of the application and there is adverse credit history there.
They would not have done employer checks etc. and then failed you on something minor.
Can suggest you quickly obtain your experian and equifax credit reports and it will be easy for you to identify what they have found and you can resolve if in error..

Hi,
Thanks for your reply.
I had checked my credit file prior to making the application and it was clear. I also put all of the recent addresses on the application including the one in which they are saying is a cross over of addresses.
What exactly does the cross over of address mean?
I know that the previous tenant at the old address has a mammoth amount of debt there, I had people at the door looking for hom but I didn't think that this would have impacted on me as we were not financially linked.0 -
To be honest I am not sure, my gut says that you were registered at both at the same time and a mix up on dates although this would just be a simple question to you rather than decline.
I think they have an obligation to do better than this and give you more information. Go to broker if broker based, or direct if direct and push it up the chain...
Good luck - let us know how you goI am a Mortgage Broker
