Stay with Nationwide 2.5% BR or move to 5-yr fix?
We're coming off our Nationwide tracker in August and can transfer as existing customers to their 2.5% base rate. Not sure whether to ride this for a while and see what happens to interest rates as we would be able to move very quickly if they did start to increase, or fix now to something like the Northern Rock's 5-yr…

BTL remortgage & transfer of ownership
Hi there guys, Ok well the situation is I jointly own a flat purchased in 2004 for £350k with a deposit of 25% on an HSBC BTL mortgage (fixed rate 6.15% until Nov 09). My father who I jointly own the flat with has said I can take over the flat if I repay his initial outlay of 80k which is certainly an offer I'd like to…

Overpaying Repayment v. Overpaying Int. Only
Our mortgage was originally interest only, which on 80K equated to around £450 a month. Since the rate has dropped the interest fell to only approx £100 a month so we began overpaying it. Is us overpaying an interest only mortgage exactly the same as doing a repayment mortgage? I was under the impression that us giving…

When to lock down!
People keep talking about getting a fixed rate as though the rates are likely to rapidly shoot up... Is the general concensus that when the rate does do back up it will do so rapidly or will we have time to consider our next moves? I dont see the point in getting a 5% fixed rate when mine is currently 1% and could remain…

Second time buyers 'deposit'
We bought an 85K house last year with a 5% deposit. We've since paid off a further 2K. The house has now been valued at 90K (We rennovated the entire house and garden for a couple of grand and appear to have avoided the slump somewhat). We are now on better salaries and fancy snapping up a bargain of a 2 or 3 bed place for…

Hi Guys, Just giving you all an update with how my First Direct application is going. As you may or may not recall I decided to opt for the 2 year fixed 2.99% offset mortgage.
