I did a quick look around the mortgage market (I admit I should have done more) and settled for Halifax on Friday (08/12). They gave me a mortgage certificate to pass over to the estate agent. I also paid for my valuation to take place this…

Question about borrowing money on the mortgage
Hi, I need to get hold of £10,000 for some home improvements & to pay off some other small debts, I quite like the idea of adding it to my mortgage and have been told by a colleague that adding about £10,000 would be about £20 a month on top of my existing payment...which I can easily budget for. I have 19 years left of my…

Bank of Scotland Personal Choice Mortgage
Does anyone have one have one of these? They don't do it any more. It tracks 1% above their base rate, which they assured me was linked to the Bank of England rate. although I was led to believe it was linked to the Bank of England rate only. I have not had any reductions since the last three BOE drops. I called them last…

Britannia Remortgage - questions for existing mortgage customers
Hi - was wondering if anyone going through a Britannia Remortgage as an existing mortgage customer can tell me what the process is? The website has fixed rates up for existing borrowers that aren't broken down by LTV ratios so I assume that LTV is not taken into account hence I don't have to worry about a valuation? Also…

For those remortgaging
Just thought I would let you know that Abbey have introduced an 'ammendment of offer fee' of £195.00 as of today. Apparently this is because of the number of people wanting to amend etc. We got our offer through the other week for a 3yr fixed - but due to the BofE base rate cut I wanted to extend the fixed rate to 10yrs.…

Therefore they are passing on 0.8% out of the 2.5% base rate cuts. This is less than a third of the total cuts they are passing on and we have to…
