Mortgage deal ends in Jan - Should I look for something new now or wait??
With the Bank of England base rate cut today, and the massive injection of capital into the banks this is not the best time to go looking for a good deal I know. But my current mortgage deal ends in January with the Halifax. Should I go looking for something else now, or wait a week or two while everything settles down?.…

Endowment cash in
Hi Am brand new to this. Despite reading lots of other peoples posts I wondered if anyone had an opinion on what we should do regarding our mortgage. We have worked hard to reduce our Nationwide mortgage to £40000. The fixed rate (5.09%) deal is due to expire in Feb 2009. It is now fully repayment mortgage. Thing is we…

Base rate mortgages and interest cut
Hi everyone, I have a base rate mortgage with Nationwide. Will my interest rate go down automatically because of the rate cut today? Or can Nationwide choose not to lower their rates? And if it is reduced, when will this take effect from? Thanks

I don't understand mortgage rates
I have a Nationwide remortgage of £45,000 at a fixed rate of 5.37% for two years which means I pay just over £485.00 a month. I didn't have to pay an arrangment fee for this mortgage. This deal ends in March 2009. If I was to get a new deal for around 7% (hopefully I would get a better deal than that but you don't know do…

Getting arrangement/survey costs back from Woolwich?
Just had my house purchase fall through due to (in my view) delays by the Woolwich and incompetence by their surveyor. The survey was conducted so badly that a second review survey was done without charge. Even Customer Services at The Woolwich admitted that "it doesn't look good" when discussing what had happened! I have…

SVR - advice required
2 years ago I bought my house for £85k. I paid a £5k deposit and was charged £1,200 higher lenders fee. My mortgage was split into 2 parts £65k on 1 rate and £20k on the higher lenders rate. The £65k rate comes to an end in October and the £20k in February next year. This will leave me with a balance of roughly £78,500.00.…

Abbey - why do I have to wait so long for my .5%?
Spoke to Abbey today to find out when I could expect the .5% rate reduction and they said it won't take affect until the 3rd of the following month (November) and as I pay my mortgage on the 1st (like most people I would imagine) I won't see the first reduction until December! Is this fair?! Do the Abbey use the 3rd on…
