Missing Broker Details
As a first time buyer I was advised by an estate agent's in-house broker to take out an Abbey variable rate mortgage with an endowment policy from Legal and General. The advice on offer was minimal, not helped by the fact that I didn't know what questions to ask at the time. However, if I now wanted to pursue this for…

Easier to get a mortgage if I have a mortgage?
I am hearing an argument from various quarters that it is always easier to get a mortgage if you already have one. Point is that we want to sell, to avoid the hassle of being in a chain, we intend to rent when we have sold and then take our time to find the right house to buy. But what is our status when we are tenants…

Standard Life Final Bonus Update
Hi everyone, Some of you might remember my past threads (HERE and HERE) on the Standard Life Endowment policy we have in which I was trying to work out whether to keep or sell it. In the end I decided to hang onto it until the next installment of the Final Bonus was paid into it which was due to happen this month. I've…

Re-mortgage shortfall issue - IFA negligence?
I have just re-mortgaged my flat as my girlfriend has just become co-owner. Here's the deal... I had an interest only mortgage with C&G taken out through an IFA. It clearly wasn't a competitive or attractive loan but was all that I could afford at the time. It was taken out in April 2006 and my dad was guarantor. It was…

Offsetting?
Hello, We're (still) planning to find our first house this year and are thinking ahead about money and mortgages. Our savings will be approximately £20k once we've (hopefully) both contributed to our ISAs in April. We anticipate needing to borrow around the £170k mark. I've read a little about offset mortgages which sound…

Compaines changing their names but actually they r the same

They now operate as Andrews -- See they might be the same!!! I have logged a Endowment complaint with them only to find to my horror that they can hide behind this very clear loop hole…

I'm self employed, and my company has only been going for a few months, but is very profitable. My partner's bank were brilliant and agreed to a great mortgage for us at a ncie low rate (before the rates went up). The…

Help!
Hi there, I'm with the Cheltenham and Glouscester BS and in 1999 took out a five year capped mortgage. When that ended in 2005 I stayed with C & G but changed the rate to a fixed two year mortgage. In order to do so they charged me a conversion fee of £204.96. It seemed steep at the time but were they in the right to do…

Sell or keep L&G endowment
We have a L&G endowment that we took out in 1998 for 32100. It has 17 years left and the fund at the moment is about £4900 paying £56 a month. Advisor says to keep it and go part repayment part int only but I'm not sure. Wouldn't it be best to go full repayment and sell the endowment?
