How much can I remortgage for?
I'm on a rough deal for another year and three quarters (5.3% fixed) but I've done the sums redemption penalites don't make it worth moving. At the time we accepted whatever our current lender would give us as we weren't in a position to shop around. And even then we were lucky enough to be able to shift even more to…

My special rate with my mortgage provider (Portman) is coming to an end soon, so my financial adviser recommended I change to Scottish Widows who are giving a better rate( 4.69%). Mortgage True cost
I've just got a quick question. When you use https://www.moneysupermarket.com to compare mortages, you are presented with a field called "True cost". I'm guessing that this true cost is calculated taking into consideration any cashback and any payment made upfront and/or added to your mortgage? Is this correct? Cheers…

Mortgage provider boosting lending power
Hi there all. My brother-in-law has had an offer accepted on a property, and was going to join forces with a friend to cover a mortgage he can't manage on his own. But friend is having second thoughts, leaving him in limbo. At a guess, I'd say he's probably about £30-£40k short. He's now wondering if it's ever possible…
