Can this be done with cash isas?
My mum and dad have 52000.00 that they would like to put into a isa but they want to keep it separate from any other funds they have. The issue is they both have isas in their names and they also want to move them to a better rate than they are currently getting so obviously if they move them they can't open a new isa this…

What's the point of ISAs?
I just don't get it! Their interest rates are rubbish. There are options for one's money with better returns - tax or no tax. So why bother? Am I missing something??

Transferring savings between Santander ISAs
Hi all Firstly, thanks for all the great advice on here. It's really useful. Last week I opened a new Santander 1 Year Fixed Rate ISA (Tax year 2012-13) with the max allowance. Prior to this, I had a Flexible Cash ISA with Santander (Tax year 2011-12) which has the full allowance but not paid into this tax year. Bearing in…

Can i transfer everything in my Lloyds ISA into a new ISA with Santander as well as add more money to the new ISA for this financial year? Also, do you transfer your ISA to…

ISA/Tax Year question
I set up an ISA after (finally) paying off my overdrafts in January this year. I wasn't able to put much into it, really, just a few hundred pounds, so I didn't get much interest. But I figured I have to start saving somewhere. Anyway I had a look for a different ISA with the new tax year, and am just in the process of…

Help/Advice needed: ISA confusion!
Hello! My first post on MSE and also please bear with me, my knowledge of ISA's (despite the cake!) is not great! I paid a fair chunk of money (just over £3k) into an E-ISA with Northern Rock in Sept 2011. I've just checked my interest, and the amount I've earnt was around £46... Now I'm no great mathematician but that's…

Open two ISAs? One for transfers one for new money?
Probably a daft question as I know you're only allowed to pay into one ISA a year, but I'm unsure as to whether a transfer counts as paying in. I'd be grateful for some MSE wisdom regarding the following. What I'm contemplating is: Open a Santander 2 year fix @ 4%, transfer in last years ISA. Open a Santander easy access @…

Fixed rate ISA
Hi all, New to this so 'bear with' please. I transferred old ISA money to a fixed rate cash ISA with the Post Office last September. Normally, every April I add new money into my ISA, but this time I was refused ... ... apparently it's against the rules for fixed rate ISAs . (I checked back, and it does say that in…

Confused about ISA interest...
On the 26th July I opened a Halifax Cash ISA, at 3.2%. The account is now showing the interest rate as 3%. But the interest applied on the 5th April works out at 2.03902% of the balance I had in there. Surely allowing for compound interest, it should be higher than the 3%, not lower? Clearly I am missing something, but…

ISA Yearly Interest
Quick question, is interest on an ISA calculated on your total balance or simply the amount that you put in for each tax year? Eg: Lets say I opened an ISA in April 2010, and for the tax year ending April 2011 I put £5,000 in, and then for the tax year ending April 2012 I also put £5,000 in, would the yearly interest be…

ISA Newbie
I have never had an ISA before; however I have logged onto Barclays and they are offering me a Cash ISA with 3.05% including a 1% 12 month fixed bonus. I currently have 2 E savers and a basic account in the Esavers I use 1 for saving for bills, the other has savings for Christmas and driving lessons and the basic account…

Save to Buy ISA and online ISA - help please
Ok, so here's my scenario and would like some assistance...! I have a Britannia ISA that has been set up since I was a kid (was called something else back then and once I turned into an adult :p , it 'became' an ISA). I also have a Nationwide ISA. I plan to keep my Britannia ISA open and basically 'park it'. The Nationwide…

Do I open a new ISA?
Hi, I opened a Barclays Loyalty Reward ISA in mid-March this year (2012). After that I put in £3000 and made just 99p at the beginning of April. This is the only interest I've made with the 2011/12 ISA I opened but given I did it so late in the day that might be why. Now a new financial year has begun (2012/13), I was…

Closing ISAs...
Over the past couple of years I have opened a couple of years. However, I have recently withdrawn the money from them (to pay tuition fees) which means that they both have a balance of zero. I assume that there is no point having the ISA open because all of the best offers are for new customers. Should I go into the two…

Deposit methods for new cash ISAs
I have a question about funding new cash ISAs for this tax year. I currently have existing funds in an ISA whose bonus period has ended so I need to transfer these funds to a new ISA. In addition I wish to use my full cash ISA allocation for this year in a new subscription. It seems that the best cash ISA rates do not…

S&S ISAs. Where's best (cheapest!)
Having only just (march 11) taken the plunge into cash ISAs I thought I should also start looking at S&S ISAs. Wifey and I maxed out our 11/12 cash ISA allowance and we will be doing the same with 12/13 allowance over the weekend, so that bit is sorted. So now I'm thinking about S&S ISAs. The problem is it all seems a bit…

Halifax ISA Online
Hi. Sorry if this has been asked before, searched but couldn't find anything. Last year I had the online ISA with Halifax and obviously the rate drops when the year is over. Well, I have opened the new one and am really struggling to transfer my cash from last years to the new one. Is it possible online? Any help would be…

ISA on line Saver.
My fixed rate ISA matured and I opened an ISA online Saver, it said it was 3% fine. I looked at the rate after opening it and it said 2.75% At the very end of the transfer it said:- Complete the Transfer - continue Then in small writing it said Are you sure you want to WITHDRAW cash - I pressed cancel, is it just badly…

HL regular ISA investments
Hi, I've got a monthly saving plan with HL and I have just £150 in a fund with 0.125% savings on the management fees. I think I dont get the saving unless I have £1,000 invested in the fund? Is this correct? I've also reduce the monthly savings to £0 for the fund as I'd rather choose when to invest (i.e. I've found that…
