Cash ISA — Limit Increase 2009/10
As most people with an interest in ISAs know the cash limit for over-50s is increased by £1500 to £5100 with effect from 6/10/2009. There is a rule which prohibits a depositor from "subscribing" to more than one cash ISA per year. So, I'm left wondering what the position is of a depositor whose initial ISA this year has…

ISA Over subscription
I have a cash isa of GBP2100 and have recently bought stocks and shares (inadvertantly) to a value of approx GBP7300 (against the GBP7200 subscription limit). Belatedly realising my mistake, I have removed approx GBP100 from the cash isa account. My question, what will happen as a result of this error and my attempt to…

Bank Manager Gave Wrong Info about ISA
Hi, last year I opened a new 1 Year Fixed Rate ISA at my bank, for the year 08/09. I already have an existing ISA at the bank and requested that all this was transferred into my new ISA. However, when I received my statement months later, it was apparent that the old ISA had not been transferred. After multiple requests I…

Where to send ISA transfer forms? Local branch or head office?
I'm trying to move 2 entirely separate previous years ISAs from Alliance and Leicester and Barclays into this year's existing Intelligent Finance ISA. I've completed the Letters of Authority for both previous years' ISAs but I'm not sure where to send them to, my local branches or some other central processing offices?…

Abbey Direct ISA Issue 3
I've still got just under 10.5K sitting in a crappy Halifax ISA at 0.5%, and I thought it's about time I moved it elsewhere. I checked a well-known comparison site as I have done before, and the top ISA was Abbey Direct ISA Issue 3 at 3.00%. I don't touch the money at all. I'm a higher rate tax payer (at least for this…

NS&I Doubles ISA rates
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/newsbysector/banksandfinance/6050519/National-Savings-and-Investments-doubles-Isas-rates.html Good news from NS&I. Hopefully it will spark rate rises from other providers in competition for our cash. BTW although their rates have increased they are certainly not the best available!

Abbey fixed 6% account (4.8% net) - better than a 1yr ISA
Hi there - Abbey have recently launched a current account that offers a fixed 6% AER on up to £2,500 for 12 months as long as £1000 is paid into the account each month. The £1000 doesn't have to stay in the account - I've set up standing orders so that this amount floats between my accounts each month. The beauty of this…
