Leave money in Stocks & Shares?
Hi I have a Mini cash ISA with one provider (£3000 allowance still for this tax year) and a Stocks and shares ISA with another (£4500). I've just moved house so my regular payments into the stocks and shares is now the minimum amount (£20). Due to Cash ISA being interest and stocks & shares being growth, I'm wondering…

Paying Interest or Dividends?
Is there anywhere on the internet which identifies whether particular funds make distributions after deduction of a tax credit or 20%? Obviously within a PEP/ISA or Pension fund only if 20% is deducted at source can tax be reclaimed. Particularly ETFs such as Barclay's ishare Sterling Corporate Bond Fund and eg Fidelity…

ISA - Mini and Maxi?
Hi guys, I'm a newbie here and as my name might suggest have recently returned from the wild and woolly world of self inflicted debt and recently set up a mini cash ISA with the ns&i. I've also heard of Maxi ISAs which I understand are somehow linked to shares but being a total novice to this game this is where my…

Barclays Tax Beater ISA - weird interest payments
Just checked my balance and the latest interest payment has come through, but it is less than I expected. I've tried all sorts of ways and I really have no idea how they are calculating this. Here goes: Like many people I had problems initially opening, so the first interest payment was not till 01/06/07, that was £29.56…

Maxi/Mini ISAs
Hi, I have a Fidelity Maxi ISA (stocks/shares one) which I will not put more than £4000 into this tax year. I would also like to start a cash ISA - ideally the N&SI one and put £3000 into this before the end of this tax year. But I'm a bit confused about whether I'm mixing the Mini/Maxi elements as I'm not sure whether I…

Move from YBS to Kent Reliance?
Anyone care to comment whether it would be worth doing this? Balance transferred to YBS £8.5k in April ... rate is currently 6.05% but KR is 6.21% Details from the thread ""Mini Cash ISAs: The Best ISAs Currently Available List": Yorkshire BS E-ISA - 6.05% NEW RATE Rate guarantee? Yes, but not at the current rate. Will not…

Dormant accounts and ISAs
Has the government taken on board the problem relating to ISAs in their keenness to get their hands on savers' money to divert to "good causes" (i.e. keep the tax burden lower than it otherwise would be). ISAs are unique in that they are likely to be accounts which you don't add to (because you can't after the end of the…

Which *new* Cash Mini ISA pays the highest rate, but with monthly interest?
I'm looking to put £3k into a cash mini ISA, but I would like the interest to be added monthly. The highest rated 'non-fixed period' new cash mini ISA's from NS&I and National Counties BS. Does anyone know of any higher end (6%+) accounts that are available?

More than one cash ISA?
I'm confused, I thought I could only open one mini-cash ISA, but I read on this thread that someone has 3-4 open and being used at the same time. Is this ok to do? Does that mean that in theory I can put away £6000 in two different cash ISAs in the same year and keep adding to them both each year? Any advice appreciated to…

Transferring from single provider S+S ISA to 'supermarket' ISA
Hi, I'm hoping someone can help. At the moment I have a mini S+S ISA with an individual provider. I'm keen to move this to a 'supermarket' (not sure this is the right expression) provider that allows you to buy in funds from many providers rather than just the one I currently have. I know the key is not to sell up the…

Please some one confirm 2008 ISA rules and tax benefit
Please can someone confirm the Mini and Maxi allowances for next year (from April 2008)? Also are there any other benefits to ISAs other than capital gains tax avoidance (probably not the correct phrase) and tax free interest? Are there additonal tax benefits for share based ISAs? Thanks MCS

Mini cash ISA and tax
Hi - I think I am missing some fundamental info about mini cash ISAs and tax. Apologies if this is covered elsewhere - my searches didn't uncover any recent discussions. My questions are as follows: 1/ In a minicash ISA, is it just *earnings* that are tax-free? Or, does the capital invested (say the full £3,000 allocation)…
