£215 to connect a gas hob - Is that fair?
We had a new boiler installed recently by a local plumber and while we had the kitchen ripped out also had them run the gas pipe for a new gas hob. I asked at the time and they said it would be £85 to come back later to connect it up. I've just had them back recently to do the work but they're now trying to invoice for…

condensing boiler service
hi all 2 quotes - £45 from a plumber we've been recommended, and £65 from a plumber we've used and trust. i thought they would be a lot more! We do need a couple of things done to the boiler though as once BG wouldn't let us have insurance on it cos of a couple of snags.

After recent heavy rains I noticed leaks in one ceiling corner of my front bedroom and both corners of my back bedroom. I've had two roofers in to look at this over the past couple of days. The first proposed to cut out defective timber battens and felt (only to the three parapets that have the leaks), renew battens and…

Plumber trouble...
(Sorry if this is not in the most suitable place on this forum) Plumber was doing a job on the same street. During a break we got him to come over and see if he could help us with two small jobs. He says yes that looks fine, I'll buy the parts and I'll come over Monday and do it. Fees £40/hr for water work. £65/hr for…

Benchmarx kitchen quote
Just been quoted a shade under £7,000 for a kitchen through benchmarx, via builders trade account but quote has been sent direct to us so he isn't taking a cut. It includes solid oak worktops, an island, dishwasher, single oven microwave, gas hob and a range of units. The prices for the appliances looks reasonable. Where…

Replace toilet + sink - how much?
I haven't got a quote for this yet, but I'm considering what improvements to make in my house. The downstairs toilet is very small, the toilet is old and the sink isn't very nice looking. How much would you expect for someone to take both out and re-fit/plumb them? Especially if I were to supply the sink+toilet - i.e.…

Keepwarm .. scam?
..just had a call from this lot, offering me free cavity and loft insulation. Quizzed them pretty thoroughly on being funded and my eligibility etc.. and was assured it would be completely free. Surely not? Thought all that had stopped? Both of us earn well, no benefits etc.. FB
