Benchmarx kitchen quote

Options
Just been quoted a shade under £7,000 for a kitchen through benchmarx, via builders trade account but quote has been sent direct to us so he isn't taking a cut. It includes solid oak worktops, an island, dishwasher, single oven microwave, gas hob and a range of units. The prices for the appliances looks reasonable. Where it looks a bit steep is the units.

Without going into a tedious full breakdown of the units as a sample a corner wall unit comes to £264 and a 600mm 3 drawer unit is £300. The units are mid range which are solid wood frames. I think we can take 15% off by dropping to a lower end range where the units aren't solid wood.

1. Does this seem reasonable?
2. Can you haggle with these firms?

I'll take no comments to mean that it can't be that bad!
  • You can haggle with anyone who has something to sell. Whether or not you will be successful is another matter, but it's definitely worth a try. Nothing to lose but everything to gain!

My recent new kitchen came from Benchmarx & I too had chose a mid range kitchen.

I found that Benchmarx came out cheaper than Howden's & Magnet (Trade)for the comparable kitchens in their ranges.

Magnet absolutely refused to budge on price & Howden's took too long getting back to us, so Benchmarx got the order & I was very impressed with their service. When a drawer front was found to be damaged during the instal, they had a driver drop off a replacement one that same afternoon.

With Benchmarx some of the things you pay extra for elsewhere are standard, such as soft close doors & drawers & taller wall/tower units. Oh & we didn't have to pay for delivery, which was an extra cost with the other suppliers.

I sourced my appliances & handles elsewhere as I wanted a particular brand of appliances & with the handles, I knew I could get them for a third of the price that the kitchen places charge. Your quote, considering it includes all appliances & solid oak worktops seems a pretty good deal.
The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.

I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.
