Replace toilet + sink - how much?

Options
I haven't got a quote for this yet, but I'm considering what improvements to make in my house.

The downstairs toilet is very small, the toilet is old and the sink isn't very nice looking.

How much would you expect for someone to take both out and re-fit/plumb them?

Especially if I were to supply the sink+toilet - i.e. labour time

Just phoned a plumbing company who I used before and were really good.

They said they can come and do a free quote. They did say it's £89 for first half hour, and then £59 per hour after.

Looking online it said it would take 2-3 hours to take out and replace.

So if I assume 4 hours, then it would be just short of £250 for labour. Plus the parts, so maybe around £400ish.

Can't really help with advising on cost but get them to agree a price for the job not an hourly rate.

When they come to quote you don't simply want them to look at it and then repeat their hourly rates. Get a written quote for them completing the job.

Will the tiling round the basin need renewing? If so, don't forget to add on the costs even if you're replacing the tiles yourself.

    Thanks - both good advice.

Jellie - there actually isn't any tiling - just a wall, so shouldn't have that problem!

should be pretty eay to find a local plumber who could do this.

i just paid a pal $350 to swap a 3 peiece suite round and fit serice vaules etc.

£200 sounds about right but get a price for the full job, not hourly. try vicky plumb for your sink and bog
  • I agree, £150-250 tops sounds about right.

Do get a price for the job, an hourly rate tends to make them take longer than it needs to and they never round the hours down ;)
