Drain, concrete floor and damaged brick
Hi all, I have a Victorian mid-terrace and I had noticed that the corner bottom brick of the outrigger had started to look weathered. I had it in my mind to do something about it and then time went by and now this weathering pattern has progressed along the side return. I called a tradesman in who said the terracotta drain…

Building costs increased
I just do not know what to do, we had an extension planned but costs have just increased by 10% which makes the budget so difficult to achieve but we desperately need more space. Would it be possible that the building costs that have dramatically increased may reduce over time?

Howdens kitchen doors replacement
Hi, I have received a quote of £2600 from Howdens for 20 kitchen front doors replacement, 5 panels, Tagnet pelmet of 5m long and one cabinet for their Clerkenwell range. This sounds rather high given these are mainly doors not cabinets. Homestyle Kitchen quoted around £1000 for the same. Is Howdens doors quality better or…

Just moved into a bungalow, in the garden around a small patio area are some scaffolding bars only about 3ft high, but they are rock solid and joined by what looks like a big Allen key type of joint. How and what do I use to dismantle this myself without paying someone?

Rising Damp Solutions
Hi all, Apologies in advance as I know this is a topic which has featured heavily before on these forums. However, I would really value people's input as I just can't find anyone that has exactly the same issue as we do! Replacing with a Combi Boiler?
I've been looking around a house today (to possibly purchase). Most of the houses I have seen so far have had combi boilers, as does my current place. However, the one we looked around today didn't. Cant find the water earth bonding....but it's there??
Hi, As per the title, during an EICR, the electrician couldn't find the water earth bonding on/near the stop-tap, so marked this as a code FI, and the report was marked as Unsatisfactory. He quoted the additional cost of finding it. I agreed, and a few days later he popped back. After much huffing and puffing, he still…

Faulty portable air con unit?
I've just bought an Amcor portable air conditioner. It claims to be 'self evaporative', blowing most moisture out of the big heat pipe at the rear and evaporating the rest. It does have a tray at the bottom to collect any excess. So far it's stopping every 30 minutes and requiring draining into an oven tray (the drain is…

Hi all! I'm in the process of purchasing an electric only bungalow and the current set up is a bunch of old night storage heaters, a back boiler behind a coal fire, and an immersion tank.
