Howdens kitchen doors replacement

Hi, I have received a quote of £2600 from Howdens for 20 kitchen front doors replacement, 5 panels, Tagnet pelmet of 5m long and one cabinet for their Clerkenwell range.  This sounds rather high given these are mainly doors not cabinets. Homestyle Kitchen quoted around £1000 for the same. Is Howdens doors quality better or such price is not justified? Thanks D

The doors are more expensive than the cabinets!   

The Clerkenwell range isn't their cheapest either.   Was it a Howdens kitchen originally?  

My own experience of kitchen door replacements is that if you're doing it, use the original manufacturer, as every manufacturer has slightly different sizing and positioning of the hinges.  You can end up up with gaps of varying sizes, meaning you can sometimes see through to the cabinet behind if they're too small.  It isn't a good look.

My in laws paid a company to replace their door fronts and the result makes me cringe.  We gave a Howdens kitchen a refresh with new Howdens doors though, and it looked perfect.

Thank you, it is not Howdens kitchen but carcasses are good so no need to replace them only front doors. There are 4 big panels to be replaced too and other bits but I though 2600 was rather steep

How did you get your price from Howdens?  If you are not a registered trader you would have been quoted their theoretical retail prices.  A builder or kitchen fitter would be likely to get a much better price.  If that is your situation, check with friends to see if they know anybody in the trade who would allow you to use their name and pay Howdens directly yourself.

Its was through my builder account but I spoke to Howdens directly, they came, did measurements and then called me with their quote,

So get them to price match the HomeStyle quote. You may not get £1,600 off but you will make inroads into discount territory.
