Hi, Sorry if this isn't the right forum for this ( or covering 2 much in 1 post) ... I'm currently in the process of buying a house in Hampshire, UK, (Offer accepted on Monday, Mortgage Credit Check passed Today). 1) I'm having slight doubts about the price we have offered for of the property ( we're going forward anyway)…

Burgled while waiting to exchange!!
Just need a rant really, after 10 months on the market with very little interest we have accepted an offer way below the asking price so we can get rid of the house from hell. Our buyer sent his final enquiries through last week so we were hoping to exchange any day and we couldn't be happier. BUT after staying at a…

Early repayment charge
I have just sold my property, but my mortgage deal doesn't run out til the 1st of April. My bank has told me it will charge me a fee of £1200 for the privilege of paying of my mortgage 4 weeks early. I understand that I would have to pay a bit but this seems rather a lot to me, or am I just stuck with the charge? Any help…

first time buyer question

Our landlord is very particular about everything and i want to make sure it all goes smoothly. This may be a bit picky, but I want…

Our 3 bed house is currently on the market – first viewingtonight although the viewer has their own property to sell and it isn’t even onthe market yet so…

New Build - Redrow - Off Plan
Hi guys, My wife and I have just early birded a house with Redrow which they said wouldn't be ready until December, maybe earlier depending on weather. The early bird gives us first refusal till the plot is released for sale. They called us yesterday to say the plot has been released for sale and we need to come in Friday…

Why can't people read the documentation/think the rules don't apply to them
Now I know solicitors get mainly moaned about but I'm a legal sec and this is my last week at work and then I'm on mat leave :j I'd like to have a brief moan about clients! Today I've had to deal with several who either haven't read or don't think that the ID rules apply to them. They've come in with insufficient documents…

House Sold
Hi, We sold our house and exchanged keys on the 31st of Jan and today have recieved a letter from the purchasers solicitor regarding the chimney. Whilst living in the house we had lit the fire on occassions and the odd time the neighbour would complain that when we lit the fire there was smoke coming down his chimney. As…

Do all insurers class settlement as subsidence?
Hi - I am a FTB and have had a RICS done on a small 2 bed middle terrace built circa 1880. It reads pretty well for a house of that age and the only general remarks on the valuation were: "The property has undergone a degree of structural movement, however this is considered to be longstanding in nature and the risk of…

Who's to blame? (Mis-selling land with property)
Hi Guys Excuse my first post; I did a quick search but couldn't find anything on Google or this forum that matched my scenario. We bought our current property in Jan 2006 as a detached cottage with approximately 2 acres. We had a home buyers report with the Woolwich (our mortgage company) and that also stated just under 2…

Mortgage valuation fear from seller's perspective
I had my house valued at the weekend and was astounded bythe valuation that all three agents came to. Great if we can get that offered, but I’m concerned that it’s such a precipitate rise that a mortgage valuer won’t agree. To put it in the picture, if I looked at the sold price of the last house on the road to have been on…

I totally recommend having your removal company pack for you
Moving tomorrow. We're paying an extra £390 for the removal company to pack. It's amazing. House was normal* until today. Removers are here now and packing while I sit on our bed out of the way with a cuppa and a magazine. :D We'll have less than 24 hours of boxes being everywhere. Of all the costs associated with moving,…

Any Hope of Buying?
I'm a 43 year old single parent working full time. I currently rent a property. I recently inherited £10k and am wondering if there is anyway I can use this on a deposit for a mortgage. I have had bad credit in the past though! I'm not sure where to start. Can anyone give any advice?

New Rental Agreement
After nearly 7 years in a property my landlord has given me a rental agreement. My old one was with the original letting agent. The rental agreement states 6 months and a £75 fee each time for extending the lease and a new agreement. I'm really annoyed that I could end up paying £150 a year for 2 pieces of paper. Is this…

SAGA Conveyancing
Having received and accepted an offer on my property, I have started looking at options for conveyancing. My last move was 20 years ago, so I don't have any recent experience of conveyancing. My estate agent sent me details of a couple of local solicitors they deal with, but I also received a mailer from SAGA (who may…

MIP with Woolich?
I called today to arrange a meeting to get a MIP through Barclays and was told because I hadn't yet found a property, I couldn't apply for a MIP. I thought it was best to get one before seriously looking because it put you in a better position when coming to make an offer?
