Moving out period for renting
Hi all, Fingers crossed my hubby and I will be buying our own place in the next 2 months. At the moment we rent and are on a rolling month by month contract ( due to disruptive neighbour downstairs making our life a misery, we were not willing to sign a 6 month contract) . My question is, if we moved in on the 20th of the…

Homebuyer survey - what to expect?
Surveyor's coming round tomorrow to do a homebuyer's survey on my 1 bedroom flat. When I called to arrange the time, they said to leave to leave 2 hours free for the survey. So I'm kind of curious what nooks and crannies they might be delving into at my flat. I bought my flat six years ago, so have there been any major…

Hi, Myself and my fiancee are currently in the process of buying a terraced house, with an outbuilding in the garden. It's one of the features that attracted us to the property. Council enforcement notice against illegal HMO
If a council enforcement notice is issued under the Town and Country Planning Act 1990 stating that a building must stop being used as a HMO on X date, what are the implications if a tenant occupies the HMO after that date? The correspondence refers to "prosecution" and "remedial action", but surely this should just apply…
