New mortage -should i sell or rent my existing flat?
Wondering if you could impart some advice on which way to jump. I own a 1-bedroom flat in a goodish location in West London. Bought for £120,000 now worth £150,000 - £160,000. The mortgage has been paid off. I would like to upgrade to a 2 bedroom house for about £250,000. My question is should I just sell the flat now and…

Any tips for a full deposit return?
Hi all, Myself and two housemates are due to move out of our place next weekend. I've rented a few places before but none have really been as professional as our current LA, and this time I'm conscious they will be thorough with the inventory and final checks. We want to do all we can to get our full deposit back (of…

Redrow easi:buy V Homebuy direct
Hi, hope this is the right place for this. Me and my partner are looking at buying a house. Our only options are the two mentioned in the title. The redrow easi buy scheme allows us to get a 75% mortgage and they lend us the 25%. This 25% is interest free and has to be paid in full after 10 years at the current house price…

Offer letter
In short, if you've been following my saga, we've now found a 1960's 'concrete block' of a home, and it's been done up to a really good standard. (by a developer) Anyhow, the design of the kitchen doesn't allow space for a dishwasher, fridge (or fridge/freezer) or a dryer. So it needs 'remodelling'. The fireplace in the…

Agents still on cloud 9
We went to view a house yesterday it came on the market last week in a sought after area. We thought it was slightly overpriced before we viewed it but according to Zoopla it could be 15k over and the neighbouring property sold @ the peak for less money. Are any others finding agents still on cloud 9, I feel like I need to…

We put our house on the market and sold it within 8 weeks. We have now decided to take the house off the market as we are unable to find anything on a par with our own. We have now received a bill from the Estate Agent. As they actually sold it they have asked for the full amount as if the sale had actually gone through.…

Hi MSE's On my hunt for a house, I spotted a property today. I know of the property quite well and I have been in it a few times. It is a 3 bed detached house, in need of modernisation (it was already started, but incomplete - probably 25k to complete it) the asking price is within my range, and cheaper than an alternative…

HomeBuy Direct - mortgages?
Hi my partner and I have found an apartment in Leeds that we are interested. The developers arranged for a IFA to call me to check eligibility and initial figures and I'm assured that we can continue with our application as long as we can find a lender to give us a 70% mortgage. There are several things that I'm unsure of…

DIY Conveyancing question
Enjoyed the thread on DIY conveyancing, but this one is specific - please: no replies on the pro and cons of DIYing! I'm on the point of agreeing purchase of a repossession. Via an agent not auction. Cash purchase, so no lender involved. It's been a while since I DIYed a purchase and I know the process has changed. 1) I…
