How long to sell a house (roughly)? My mothers has taken 3 months so far...

..or we are near the 3rd month now. To be fair we are in the final stage as the buyers solicitor has apprved everything and the buyer will get his contract this week (we are told) but 3 months does seem a very long time.

Thought?

Average is three mths. So can be less and can be more, these things seem to take far too long these days.

Thanks very much. WOW three months thoughs that's so long to be honest my mother hasn't been calling them up and hurrying them along as I would but still THREE MONTHS.

I'm assuming until he signs his contract he could still back out?

How long's a piece of string? I've done one in 10 days from agreeing price to Exchange of Contracts and Completion on the same day 10 days later. House was empty, cash purchase so no mortgage. DIY conveyancing to keep things moving.

If you have problems getting your mortgage in place, or the vendor is waiting to Exchange contracts on HIS purchase, and his vendor is delayed by a purchase up the chain.... well, 3, 4 5 months is possible.

but I am assuming it would cost him his fees from his solicitor so he would be down? Thanks for the replies I guess it's taking 3 monhs so is making me nervous.

All surveys done and complete. No known hold ups other than the buyers solicitors "being solcitors". No chain. His solicitors finished checking everything last week and have recieved the contract signed by my mother. Our solicitors have said it should be this week as now the buyer gets his contract and as long as the funds are in place.... job done.

LOL - it's not even my house and I'm stressed about it.
