We need a HPC register
I think it's time for the HPC brigade to put their money where their mouths are. Let's set up a register all those who have talked of the impending DOOM in house prices in reply to innocent questions related to housing. You know the type. Example: Question - How much stamp duty will we have to pay? HPC brigade reply -…

Perils of rejecting a good offer
Hi I made an offer on a property last week. Marketed at £350K I offered £345K and they quickly refused. Then, they called me to ask if I'd go the asking price. I said I'd reconsider over the weekend. Well, I have reconsidered and I'll be withdrawing my offers tomorrow. How good will they feel? Am I a bad person because I…

Valuation Report - Shared Drains/Small house?
Afternoon all! We've just had our survey back and my fiancee is concerned by a couple of things they've pointed out as negative. Whose responsibility
Hello all, I have a question regarding my rented accommodation. Our oven has stopped working (gas oven won't stay alight once you let go of nob). Apologies if i'm going over old ground but as this is usually outside my sphere of interest, I usually pass over threads regarding this issue. My best chum has an AST with his partner on a nice house in a nice area. They're happy and settled there, but their semi-detached neighbour has become more and more of a nuisance.…

Stamp duty avoidance tips
Is it feasable to offer £250,000 + £10,000 for fixtures and fittings on a house to avoid paying the higher rate of stamp duty? Is it a common thing to do? I mean if I gotta pay £260,000 proper, the stamp duty nearly triples, must be a work around....??

Estate Agent fixes sale to developer "mate"
Hi all, first time poster:-) We offered on a property last week at full asking price yet have ‘lost’ the sale to another party at the same price. The house is 18th century and unique and has patently been underpriced by the agent (within a week 3 offers at full asking, 1 above!?!). The old lady living there has put her…
