Ex-Council Anyone?
I have had an offer accepted on an ex-council property and just want to understand the pros/cons of buying such a property – can anyone speak from experience? I know there is a “stigma” associated with ex-council but this is a small block in a very high priced area in London and the views – it seems to be very well…

New House Build - Scotland
Any thoughts? Bought a new flat last year, June 2005, for completion November 2005. Once I had paid my deposit the proposed completion date was changed to February 2006. During December that changed to 24 March 2006 despite me asking to be in by 20 March 2006. Last week heard from my solicitor that it is now 7 April 2006…

On completion - utilities.
Our daughter is about to complete on 1st house. It is an executer sale, so empty now, but the electric, gas & phone are all still connected & working. Does she have to take over with the same providers initially? I'm sure they'll not be the most cost-effective, but I don't see how she could start up with anyone else, even…

Estate Agent Fees
I was hoping for a bit of advise on a disagreement I'm having with my estate agent. We negotiated a sliding scale of fees (the lower the sale price, the lower the fee). For a sale of 144k - 146k I need to pay 1.25% and 146k - 148k 1.5%. I have received an offer of 147k to include the carpets so I have told the buyer that I…
