Reasons for selling?
We are wanting to sell up our lovely shrinking home, but what do I say to people viewing our house when they ask why we are moving? I am not very good at lying but I don't want to make our house sound bad, the real reason is we want more space :-/ Also do people expect you to leave carpets & curtains or is that negotiated…

Repo

Just wondered, has anyone marketed their houses themselves and cut out estate agents altogether?? If we ever sell again I am planning to make up my own For Sale board and advertise in the local property papers, but just wondered if this would be successful??

Don't move!! Extend?
After looking at house prices in the area we want to stay in, it looks impossible for us to get anything better at a price we can afford. So I am tentatively researching the possibility that we could build a small extension on the side of our house to use as a study/playroom. Has anyone done something similar? Will it add…

What is my advantage money wise here?
I'm a first time buyer, and am looking to buy in a sought after location as I commute to London. The house is up at £189.950 but the agent has let it bew known that the buyer wants…

selling flat in spain
I'm selling my flat in Spain through an estate agent. All estate agents here charge 5 -yes 5!!-% commision. I tried selling through the small ads, but no luck so far. It pains me to pay that much, especially as I have to show potential buyers round myself and none of the agents have done more than put photos up in their…

Self Building
Seems like a great way to save (or make ;) ) money. Astute people such as those on this site must have done it. How easy was it? Is there a free way (insert your own Hart to Hart joke here) to find a good plot? What are the pitfalls? Any thoughts gladly received.

House Price Boom to Bust
In the Uk the housing market tends to move between one of two extremes. 1. Grossly over valued 2. Grossly under valued. A the moment the market has achieved the grossly over valued stage. Now, as always at every peak, a plethora of arguments can be put forward to support house prices that have reached inflated levels, as…

Putting Stuff in Storage
We are about to take on a "project" house (a.k.a. a dump with potential) and will need to put most of our furniture and other stuff into storage while we tear up floors and knock down walls. Any suggestions for cheap options? Any experience of the self-store companies?

Solicitors
Supposing you have a cash buyer for your property. Does the cash earn interest in the vendor's solicitors bank account between the "signing of contracts" date and "completion date" ? If so who's interest is it ? I've heard something about this is, but don't know how to check it out.
