Why has Cheap Energy Club switch failed?
I used the Cheap Energy Club to switch my electricity supplier from Scottish Power to Good Energy on Feb 4th. Good Energy sent me a form to fill in, including direct debit instructions, asked for a meter reading and details of my electricity meter, and took the first payment from my bank account on 3rd April. Today I was…

Npower I wish I hadn't bothered
Switched to Npower from Scottish Hydro back in early February. Electricity switch no problem, all set up on the internet. The same can't be said for my gas switch. I've phoned countless times asking what is happening and they basically cannot give me a definitive answer. They hit me with all sorts of Jargon relating to…

nPower 12mth DD discount - what is 12mth?
Sorry, it may sound like an odd question. I'm planning to switch away from nPower at the earliest opportunity as my fix is about to end (21 May). However, their supply was the cheapest when taking into account the 12m £100 DD discount. So, as my first DD was on 6 June last year, should I get the discount on the 6th May, or…

EDF account i credit £200+
My father's energy account has been in £200+ credit since August 2012 in each quarter of the bill. (Nov, Feb) EDF seem hesitant on refunding his money. He pays around £78 x 12 = £936.00 in total and the latest bill generated leaves him £330 in credit (after they asked for a meter reading - April). Anyone else have problems…

Back dated billing for Business Energy Tariff
Good Morning to the MSE team and fellow members, I am a newbie to this forum and would be very grateful for some advice regarding a certain billing matter I currently have with British Gas please? I have an Economy 7 meter at my shop and British Gas have been supplying my shop for the last 2 years on an Economy 7 tariff…

SSE credit checking for an account!
I used the MSE's Energy club and it found me a deal with SSE, it mentioned up to £60 a year less. I'm currently with Co-Operative energy at the moment. I decided to check my Experian credit file and there was a full credit check with SSE? No mention they'd do this on the online form. I've been with EDF, British Gas,…

Cheapest way to heat water for business
I need hot water for hand washing and showers in the changing rooms for a new martial arts centre. I was thinking all electric as gas loses heat via the flue. Whereas electric is direct contact (?) Option 1: Electric boiler for water and heating and showers. Option 2: Electric boiler for hand wash water and heating,…

Night Storage Costs?
Hi Can anyone help calculate how much a night storage heater will cost to run a month. My calculations are coming out at huge sums of money, so I feel I must be doing something wrong. Here's my workings.. Looking at the chart for Dimplex quantum night storage heaters from the Dimplex site it says for 1 day a single heater…

Electricity Provider Woes
We currently have a situation with our electricity provider that I wouldn't mind your advice on. We rent a house, directly from the owners who we know personally. Initially they advertised the house to let with an estate agent. During this brief period this estate agent moved the electricity provider over to a company in…

British Gas problem
Hi there, I wanted to just broach this subject amongst you if i may. Back in June last year we were in Credit for both the Electricity and Gas and never had any problems with British Gas. We had noticed a loud buzzing noise in our house and becuase we have a fish tank that buzzes it took us months to realise that the noise…

Capped Gas supply - get it re-instated
I'm just in the process of buying a 1960's house. The previous people who were elderly who lived at the house didn't like Gas so had the meter removed and the supply capped years ago. The estate agent when we'd originally enquired said that the house didn't have a gas supply to it so it was news to us then the survey came…

Anyone got their £40 cashback from First Utility (iSave v14)
I signed up for this in January (though the switch only happened in March), but haven't yet received the £40 cashback. Does anyone have a copy of the T&Cs for th £40 cashback that they can look at, and let me know what they say. Frustratingly I didn't seem to save a copy when I signed up (which is very unlike me!). I just…

Which price is more realistic?
Hi all, first time buyer here. I've been looking online budgeting for our electric bills and I can't figure out what price is more realistic. The flat we're in the process of buying is 2 bedroom, ground floor about 35 years old. Has electric night storage heaters - so imagine it has an economy 7 electric meter. It also has…

Does this gas consumption look normal?
Hi, I want to run this by other people and see if it looks right. I am a single person living in a single bedroom flat. I don't have a gas cooker. Npower is my gas supplier, and I'm on "Gas NGT 24hr Standard Product" tariff. My bill from mid-december to beginning of April came to £213. This was based off a prediction based…

Think Gas Meter is Broken but we put in cust readings which were wrong.
We are with Utility Warehouse for our gas and electricity. For years we've been supplying the gas readings on the meter when we remember to. However back in November 2012 and again in December 2012 we couldn't enter the readings we had on the gas as they were "out of range" on the website. So my other half decided just to…

Boiler damage after power surge
A few days ago an electricity substation was broken into and cables were stolen resulting in a power surge which knocked out electricity to hundreds of homes in the area. Since reconnection many people have found problems with boilers , modems , chargers etc., and I would like to ask if anyone knows whether the electricity…
