What to do, empty gas bottles
We have recently bought a house and have moved in to find four or five large gas bottles/canisters in our garden. Obviously we could cause a stink and try and get the vendor to take them since they were not part of the house that we were buying but to be honest it's probably easier to sort it out ourselves. However, I have…

Just thought I would post this message as a fairly new forum member. I posted on here a week ago regarding a monthly gas bill of over £500. MoneypPenny (i have PM'd you) mentioned that my gas bill was showing a conversion from imperial to metric and that I needed to check my meter. Low and behold I have a metric meter so…

Prepayment to Direct Debit
My daughter and husband own their property and have gas and electricity prepayment meters in. Their previously poor financial status has now improved. Realising that prepayment is not a good option, they have asked British Gas to replace with meters which will allow them to pay direct debit. My understanding is that BG…

I am in the process of switching from Southern Electric to Scottish Power and have today received a letter from Southern Electric saying they are pleased that I want them to continue as my provider and have raised an objection to the transfer going ahead. !!!!!!? False-economy 7: what should storage heaters be using?
Me and my mate are in a small two bed flat with storage heating, and everything electric, incl. water set to heat the tank at night. There are three heaters, one of them does not work (permanently stone cold). Based on the meter readings we took when we moved in and what I saw just now, we've used over 1200kWh and we've…

My latest british gas bill was £150 for gas, £46 for heating for 3 months, with the heating only on twice a day for a couple of hours each period. So I've figured, that's a silly ratio to stay warm for the hour i get up and go to bed and…
