Electricity costs per unit
I'm keen to know what people pay per kWh (=unit) of electricity. I haven't been able to find this information from the net. In France, where over 80% of electricity is generated from Nuclear, the cost on the standard tariff is 9cents or about 7p.

Get money back from British Gas if you have a service contract.
If you have a service contract with British Gas where they come and service your boiler, check that they have visited you within the 12 month period of your contract. Recently I noticed that my service intervals had moved out to around 15 months. My contract with them says that they will service the boiler every year. I…

Christmas lights - expensive to run?
Until this year I've never really considered the cost of making my house look like Las Vegas for a few weeks, but I suppose I should really since I'm working on cutting gas and electric bills. So, for a few sets of lights on the tree and a couple of small fibre optic trees around the house, will my bills noticeably…

Does this still sound competitive, or does anyone have any better quotes for good service. For this, we get any callouts and parts, plus a free yearly…

Electricity Meter Loophole?
I am currently with Atlantic Electricity and Gas. I am seriously cheesed off by the way they have handled their recent price increases (I was promised that they wold not pass on any increase until April 2009). I have been thinking of ways in which I can dispute the amount they are now charging me. I may have come up with…

Does this sound expensive?
I am on British Gas Click6 - Having double checked my meter readings I find that for just simply having on the pilot light for my boiler and gas fire they use 1unit(11Kwh) every 53hrs. This may not sound a lot but using Tier1 charging (On the basis its easier to have them on 24hrs a day rather than run the risk of them not…

Odd 'bills' from Scottish Gas

Price Caps - Second Thoughts?
When I price capped in August it all seemed like a good idea. Even though I was paying a lot more to cap, the rumours in the press about huge increases in bills frightened me into capping. Now, with the fall in oil prices, the recession and the likelyhood of tariff reductions, I am beginning to regret my decision. Anyone…
