Holiday Declined as Notice Period
Hi All, I resigned on 7th June and was given a notice period of one month with my contract ending on July 7th. Death of parent abroad

Unfortunately now my dad, who lives back in Italy, is very ill and family has been practically told he could pass away any moment and obviously I need to go there as soon as I can as it's a matter of urgency. I am on a temp contract until August with…

Hi guys, I was injured playing in a rugby tournament, which was a company event. Subsequently, I could not go to work for around 4 weeks. I was wondering whether (since I was representing my employer, sustained the injury during working hours and was being paid for that day) I should be getting paid my full salary while I…

Does it cost an employer more money to employ 2 part timers rather than 1 full timer?
Hi, A couple of girls at work are wanting to reduce hours and go part time. We have part timers already. Manager is refusing as he says it costs them (the employer) more money to have 2 part timers rather than 1 full timer (something to do with national insurance, I think). Is this right?

Partner fired right before I started maternity leave :(
My partner lost his job a few weeks ago, literally a couple of weeks before I started maternity leave. He was fired for gross misconduct. i am not sure of exactly what happened; all he has said is that he made a decision that went against protocol (he works in IT). They must have really liked him before that, though, as…

CV - Degree from Open University - Should I still list A Levels years later
I know in general the advice is to leave off your cv anything from "school" once you have a degree, and especially masters degree, and professional experience (I have around 15 years experience at this point). However, as my degrees are from the Open University as I started them at age 18 while working full time - Should I…

Notice Period/Finish Date - No Contract
I've handed in my notice at my job earlier today, as i've been offered another job. I've not got a contract with my current employer. No pay after leaving job - what do I do now?
I left my previous job a month ago, but I have received no payment. I called up the HR department of the company and asked them what's going on - they claim they have sent out a payment to my account and that nothing has been sent back to them so I should phone my bank up and ask them. I did that, but they have received no…

Bullying from Boss - Untrue Allegations Made Against Me
So to keep it brief, I have been working for a company for 3.5 years, no real issues until the turn of the year when a new manager took over and since then I have been the target of constant criticism, undermining and various acts designed to push me out of the door. Basically what has been happening is after no issues…

False Job Advertisement?
Company name omitted because of reasons. In May I had an interview with a bank for a part time vacancy. I was offered the job on the 16th May subject to successfully passing the Vetting checks and handed my notice in at my then current workplace ready for a 6th June start date that I had been advised. As it got nearer to…

Taking a job with lower pay
So I'm through to the second - and final - round of interviews for this job. It's a few grand lower than what I'm on now. I was asked my salary expectations after I applied and was told that they could only offer so much. I think I have a really good chance of getting this job. If I do how would I go about negotiating…

Relocation mileage
I've spent the last year on secondment away from home, in London. My employer was paying my additional costs for this - rent & bills - and also paid the initial cost of relocation (travel & removals), and I've also been able to claim for the costs of moving home - tenancy checkout costs, mileage & parking. However, my…
