should I get P60?

Hello all
I have started my work at current place by the end of March 2016, received my first salary in same month, but without Payslip. I tried to find out why, buy no one could give me clear answer. Meanwhile I received second salary, for April. With proper Payslip this time. It also shows "advance recovery" with the amount I have received for March - so it shows how they accounted it. No more questions in this matter. But...
I have been waiting for my P60 and now received final answer from Payroll people that I will not get it, because I was not on Payroll last tax year.
That is weird, because as far as I understand - I have worked there and received payment in the last month of tax year - March, and it is clear I should get my P60.
It is quite important, I am nor British Citizen and those documents are just priceless.
Could anyone try to explain if I am being treated serious by my current employer? They seem ok, but I have been warned not to believe in everything they say. Many thanks for your help!

A P60 should be provided to all employees on the payroll who were working for the employer on the last day of the tax year (5 April). It should be given by 31st May.

It sounds like you were not on Payroll in previous tax year and that the 'pay' you received in March was an advance which was then recouped from your April payslip.0

I do understand that, but does the fact, that I have actually been paid in March and that I have been workink there during last financial year makes it clear that they shoyuld provide my P60??Darksparkle wrote: »A P60 should be provided to all employees on the payroll who were working for the employer on the last day of the tax year (5 April). Please correct me if I am wrong, but what you stated here, and what I have found under link you pasted, clearly means I should get my P60:
- I have worked on 5th of April
- I think I have been on payroll that day. The cut-off date for payroll is 15th of each month. If I received my pay and payslip for April, I musted have been on payroll on 5th.0 -
I once received a P60 from recruitment agency exactly 12 months to the day, after I probably should have had it so weirder things have happened.0

I had a chat with a friend who does payroll and in these circumstances should would have issued you with a nil P60 which would have had zeros in if you hadn't worked elsewhere. If you had worked elsewhere then it would have the figures from your previous employment.
The advance would not count as pay and would not be included, Hope this helps.0 -

Hi, many thanks for your help. This is exactly what common sense tells me. Thanks for spending your time for asking your friend, much appreciated0 -
They have processed your payment in April but if they actually gave you money in March unless you agreed to an advance they have breached RTI regulations.
If you started late in March after the payroll was done then they have probably done this to make their lives easier if they had already shut the year down. I would say although not correct, not uncommon.0 -

Many thanks! Do you also think they should produce P60 with figures from previous employment?0 -
Thanks for the information0
