Do DCA acknowledge...
Payplan ? we were told it's easier for payplan to get DCA's to accept dmp than actual creditors . Worried about having visit's from DCA's as we have children and very nosey neighbours. Many thanks craftingueen.

being a house husband
I'm sorry if this is not quite the right place for this, anyway my OH and I have been discussing our finances and seeing where we can make cuts. One of our biggest outgoings is child care at over 698 quid a month, which works out to t2/3 of my OH wages. I've worked out that if we didnt have to pay child care we could…

Statute barred debts
I know this appears regularly, but I have a question (on behalf of a neighbour) I know debts become statute barred after six years, but say you recieved a letter demanding payment and went ahead, could this payment then be reclaimed (was only within the last couple of weeks)

Will keep £20 out for taxi tonight (off for a meal - all paid for with free bar, but can afford a taxi now rather than drive  ) The rest will pay off some debts on Monday in cash at the bank - if I keep it, I'll spend it :o Well chuffed to say the least!! CSL / Barclayloan problem
Hi all, hope you can help me here with some advice: I had a loan with Barclays around 6 years ago, but ran into problems with this and my other debts and entered into a debt management plan. I decided to go it alone and cancelled the DMP to which all of my creditors have agreed except CSL (Credit Solutions Ltd). I rang…

Dealing with DCA
Hi, I had a credit card balance of 4800 and a chargecard balance of 1800 with American Express. Both accounts have just been passed to Newman DCA because I missed a couple of months payments on the chargecard alone and they couldnt contact me when I was abroad. My own daft fault for ignoring the problem. The accounts were…

Warning to students, the banks are out to get you
I want to warn students of the irresponsibility of banks in dealing with students. My son who is at uni lost his job through an accident so was unable to put money into his student account. He was a mere £28 over his overdraft limit, I went with him to the bank (HSBC) to try to sort things out as they had cancelled his…

Pulled my credit report without permission
Hi all, long time no speak! The joys of a new job and 3 kids  A company that I phoned to request a catalog from have done a credit check and subsequently declined me credit. Bankruptcy at 25 and running own business???!
I am strongly considering declaring myself bankrupt. I am only 25 and I have just gone self-employed to run my own freelance business (Sole Trader), so it is a depressing prospect to say the very least. On the other hand I have £10,000 of debt in Credit cards and student overdrafts (excluding a £12,000 student loan) but, I…
