'settled' debt being chased - where do I stand?
OK, this is pretty brief because it's all happened rather quickly so far.. I'll explain in chronological order. Years ago (2001 or so) I got a Royal Bank of Scotland Student account (with overdraft) and Credit Card. Bad things happened, some of them my fault, most of them theirs (That's my side, at least.) I ceased…

Newbie questions
OK, first of all just to say I've been a long time lurker and heartily admire all that everybody is doing to become debt free. My questions regard OH's previous debt problems and I may be in the wrong place to ask these questions so apologies in advance.... He (in a moment of kindness!) paid all of his ex's credit cards…

Secured loan or not?
Hi Probably a familiar story, but could do with some pointers for our first steps. I'm going to do a full budget later but it's hard when my income varies greatly from one week to the next (self-employed). I'm trying to solve that by getting a well-paid salaried job. Anyway, here's the details: DEBTS Car Finance £3,453.42…

He went to the index file where I keep all the cards we own, everything from membership to loyalty to bank cards. He went through it and between us we closed at least 4…

Snowballing, 2 techniques
So far I have come across two techniques, both which have pros and cons The first one is by paying off in order of Interest The 2nd by paying off in order of speed to pay off. a bit confused after bank review
Hi My understanding when previously visiting the CAB had been that the overdraft and credit card debts would be treated as one debt and that I should make one single offer. I am allowed to make overpayments to my Alliance and Leicester Mortgage. Does anyone know if the term will automatically reduce OR will the monthly repayments fall? I'd prefer the former. Do A&L have a set policy on this?
