Firstly, I need to explain my history; Ok, so I've been a professional gambler for the last 8 years (after learning about matched betting on this site), so I haven't paid any tax on my winnings, even though it is my only source of income. I gamble on a bit of a niche market, and I also gamble on behalf of a few friends and…

Council Tax Horror Scotland
Long story short. Bought a derelict cottage in 2004 and place was unliveable. Went and sought advice re council tax from council service point who said it did not meet the definition of a house (no kitchen/bathroom/plumbing etc). Seemed common sense at the time. We had other properties and paid council tax on all but none…

IHT.....gifts and weddings.
We usually give away our "allowance" of £3000 each every year, this is divided between our 2 children. Next tax year our daughter is getting married. Does this mean we can then each give her a wedding gift of £5000, plus still each give away the usual £3000, some of which would also go to her?

My sister lives there with him and didn't own her own home so I assume that she will not pay any cgt, but I own another…
