Hi all, I've been working abroad, from Dec 09 and due to return to the UK in May 11. I've contacted HMRC to sort out an NT tax code (still working for a UK company who pay me from the UK) and they have also agreed that the period of Dec 09 until end of the 09/10 tax year will be treated as a split year period (ie I get a…

Getting employer to accept liability for underpaid tax
Hi all Like many of you may have, I received a notification yesterday that I've underpaid tax in the 2007/8 tax year by about £500. (nice - it's my birthday today, talk about timing!) I've had a look at this, phoned HMRC to discuss it and they're sending me a breakdown of the figures. Basically in that year I started…

SIPP Contribution
Hi I work full time and PAYE but also have a small part time business for which I submit self assessment. However I have a SIPP - I transferred previous pension in and have used it…

Historical un-taxed earnings
I was made redundant Aug10, was out of work for 1 month and then started working as a sub-contractor. Hence, invoicing the company for my time but without declaring/deducting tax...thru naivity and lack of knowledge really. I want to register as self employed and start submitting annual tax returns from 7th April 2011. I…

How do I go about correcting the historical returns and also is there any…

'Fessing up
Thought I would start a new thread on this rather than hijack someone else's. Client (and his wife) inherited property 2005 - no returns - no notification etc etc - you get the picture. More annoyingly no UTR despite me telling them to register. From my posts on here, I would hope that you will assume that I have no…
