Taxman owes me money but wont pay?

The Taxman owes me some money but wont pay it and is taking forever to reply to my letters.

I returned my mileage claims for the past 4 years and the taxman owes me approx £4000 but keeps pushing back asking pointless relentless questions. Doers anyone know if i can charge teh taxman for retaining my monies please?

When you say mileage claims what do you mean?
You can offset your business mileage against your taxes at a rate of £0.40 per mile for the first 10,000 miles, £0.25 pence per mile thereafter, but you can't 'claim' it from HMRC.
Can you clarify?

£4,000 over 4 years. Either you do a huge business mileage with your employer paying virtually nothing, or you misunderstand how the calculation works. Irrespective, I can see why HMRC may be asking questions before they pay out £4K.

For you to be expecting back approx £1000.00 per year, this would mean you are doing a LOT of mileage, expect to be issued with Self Assessment tax returns for forthcoming years, as you will be claiming expenses over the SA threshhold
