How long does a merchant have to charge a transaction to a card?
As the title really - just wondered if anyone knew if a transaction becomes time barred if a merchant doesn't request it within a set period of time. Transaction is on a mastercard (not sure if that makes any difference!). Thanks

Best credit card for occasional use
I'm looking for a credit card, basically just for payment protection purposes, that isn't provided with a debit card. I don't need the credit so if I can get one that is free to make purchases on if paid off quickly then that would be great. I've seen Sainsburys Finance offering Nectar points and Tesco Finance offering…

Virgin Credit Card Cheque VS Money Transfer
Ok, so have applied for a Virgin Credit Card as we plan to use the balance to pay off a loan we have (to give us more flexibility in paying it off). Now, the fee's for balance transfers, credit card cheques etc is just shy of 3% but money transfers are 4%. The deal for all types of transfer is 0% for 16 months and after…

Student credit card?
Maybe this should be in the student section, but I figured it would be better in here. I'm starting uni in a few weeks, and I'm living at home. My student loan will cover travel and leave me with about £60 a week, which is brilliant. I also want to buy a laptop. Now I've gone all my life getting the cheapest in the shop,…

Best way...?
I've got an overdraft (no longer a student!) of about £1500 that I need to pay off (asap!), and I've just started paying interest on it. Having looked into it a bit how feasible would it be to get a credit card (say - no interest for 10months?) and pay off £150 per month? Is this classed as a balance transfer? Just…

Declined: Santander Zero (first card app ever, advice please)
Hi, I recently applied to Abbey for a Santander Zero card and I have been declined. I read the pages on this site that advised checking my Experian report which I have done. The only thing I can see as potentially problematic is that it has flagged my previous university address (2007) as a previous known address (I didn't…
