Old Cheque Books
I have been tidying up my papers and found a few cheque books for the accounts which have been closed by switching some a year or two ago. What would be a safe way to get rid of them? I haven't got shredder.

Would appealing a decision from a bank leave a mark on my credit file?
I made a post yesterday but for some reason cannot post again on it. So I attempted to open a current account with RBS yesterday and was immediately told they’re unable to give me one. This no doubt probably left a mark on my credit file. I suspect this is because they checked my credit score with a particular agency and…

Many months ago, NatWest suspended the facility to change your account names. The following message appears after clicking change account names. "We regret that this function has been temporarily suspended." I had been using this as a workaround to contrive the order in which my accounts were displayed. As a result, the…

Ex wont close joint account
Hi all, I had a joint bank account with an ex some five years ago now. When we split I went into branch, froze the account, and signed the paperwork for the account closure. My ex refused to sign the paperwork. I've sent it to her a further three times over the past five years and yet the account is still open. Lloyds have…

Rejected for a Select account from RBS - worth appealing?
Just applied for a Select account at RBS, didn't really think much of it just looking for a crappy account to open so I can use it to switch to another bank and get a bonus. Filled in identity information and uploaded a picture of my drivers licence along with some sort of "liveness" test. After a minute I received an…

A bank account with many sub-accounts for easy piggybanking
Dear Martin & hi everybody, I researched bank accounts to do piggybanking AND put 10% of my earnings aside every month without spending them in view of investing them to beat inflation. Switched accounts. Who needs to know?
I have just switched our current account. All went smoothly, bonus received. There seems to be conflicting info on who needs to be told. I thought the switching procedure took care of all regular payments in and out, DD and SO but among the instructions our new bank provided it said we should inform our pension providers.…

2022 budget attempt
Hello, I'm going to try and stick to a budget this year. A bit about me: Moved into first time flat 2.5 years ago. It was a complete dump with no kitchen so I've nearly finished off paying £7k for a new kitchen. I've not had any spare cash to make the flat nice so it looks a bit barren. I have a terrible junk food habit so…

So having received some money for Christmas I thought I would lodge it into my Santander account.
