Changing NatWest Account Names

Many months ago, NatWest suspended the facility to change your account names. The following message appears after clicking change account names.

"We regret that this function has been temporarily suspended."

I had been using this as a workaround to contrive the order in which my accounts were displayed. As a result, the top account is no longer my "default" current account, but a savings account.

I have changed the order on my app but cannot do anything about the order in online banking.

Does anyone have any innovative solutions for rearranging the order in which my accounts appear in online banking?

No, for whatever reason they suspended this feature about two/three years ago which I would hardly describe as temporary.
Like yourself I used the rename function for clarity and to reorder accounts to my liking.

I guess you know what they say (see below) although if they have access to your account you are already compromised.

"To help protect you from fraudsters we have turned off the account nickname functionality within Mobile and Online Banking until further notice.  Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience this may cause. If your account nickname has been changed and it wasn’t you who requested this then this is fraud and you should contact us immediately."

"They log into your Online Banking and change one of your account names to something like ‘Frozen’, ‘Suspended’ or ‘Blocked’."  (..and then get you to move money out)

If you call them you can ask them to make your current account your default account.

Would that move it to the top of the list which currently is alphabetical?
  • Do you have the facility to 'hide' accounts' as I do on Barclays? If so, you could hide everything except the account you use most, and reveal the others when you need to.
I came into this world with nothing and I've got most of it left.
