long term savings account for grand child

Looking at starting a savings account for my first grand child, would like to put a regular payment in each month £50 till she is 18, but am so confused on all the accounts out there ideally i'd like to set it up and run it myself, cant decide between A junior ISA or savings account,

One of your grandchild's parents would need to open (and manage) the JISA - you could then contribute.
For so long a time period the stocks and shares option could offer better returns.
