Are they savings?
Sorry if this is in the wrong thread, I really wasn't sure where to put it. I purchased my first house in 1985 and, as was the wisdom of the day, took out an endowment policy for the full value of £12,500. Three years later we borrowed a further £6000 for improvements and took out a second endowment to cover it (£18,500…

Higher Tax Allowance
Sorry if it's a stupid question but I was wondering on the 40% tax rule changing from 42.3k to 45k. Does that mean: a) If you are earning over 45K already, this rule doesn't matter - you're still paying 40% or b) You now only start paying 40% tax over the 45k allowance e.g. up to 45k and it's 20% and then anything you earn…

Work allowance and Universal credit
Not sure why those with children and/or disabled will still get an allowance but from April, any single claimant who is doing low paid temp or seasonal work will get no extra help? Back to the old system of as soon as you earn, your UC will be deducted.:mad:
