Hi,
I want to know if I can take on a part time job around 16 hours per week painting and decorating but I am on esa support group. I recently posted my renewal form back to them and awaiting news if I have to have an assessment. Would this be allowed? I am wanting to get back to full time work but want to see how I get on with my disability! Thanks.

https://www.gov.uk/employment-support-allowance/eligibility is the official government site.
You have to contact them prior to starting any role, and they have to usually agree it.0 -
You say "around 16 hours". You can only work up to 16 hours i.e. 15hr 59 min per week. If you go over that ESA will stop.0

Unless you work under permitted work lower limit and only earn £20 per week. There's no hours criteria for that and if self employed can charge as little as they want.0 -

Fair comment, but I'm assuming the OP wants to earn more than £1.25 per hour even if they are seeing this as a potential way back into work.0 -

Its a maximum of up to 16 hours regardless if self employed or employed, go over 16 and it will stop the ESA and WTC might have to be claimed instead.0
