There is a big light at the end of the dark tunnel....
Hi all Brand new to this forum as a member but not as a reader - the advice received has been a life saver over the last 7 years. But as a bit of inspiration rather than the usual doom and gloom I thought I would tell you all about my personal experience Was a complete prat from 18 - 27. Racked up close to £40K of…

Probably a stupid question....
About an old halifax account I had from before my bankruptcy. I'm contemplating phoning halifax to see if they will send me a new card for my halifax reward card. The account is still open and can be viewed on online banking. I never owed any money on this account, but I did owe them money on another account and a credit…

Tesco Credit Card
I received another CCJ threat off Tesco yesterday, dated 10th June. I sent them a copy of my BR order with their last letter. I posted it 6th June, so possibly they crossed in the post. However, yesterday I called them and they were somewhat unwilling to believe that I was BR as it was March when they first received…

Could they be any more incompetent?
What on earth is going on at the Insolvency Service? I went BR in May 2012, was discharged May 2013 and am currently working my way through an IPA that is due to finish August 2015. I had another change in circumstances earlier this year which resulted in another income & expenditure statement being completed, and in the…

IVA or Bankruptcy
A couple of weeks ago I had an over the phone appointment, with a drafter to draft up my IVA Proposal. We went through my other choices and the only other choice over an IVA was bankruptcy. He thought bankruptcy was the better option for me rather than an IVA, but I didn't have the fee then. I received a draft of the…

Discharged day 1 and confused
Hi there, I have just been discharged - seems like a long year since I did my little walk into my local courts and went bankrupt. My question is - I've just looked at my experian file and it still shows all my old accounts with balances - is that right? I though it should have changed to 'satisfied' or 'settled'? (I also…

How long do the OR look at you for?
Hi, can anyone answer this? I went BR in Jan and have just had an IPA which is for 36 months. What happens at the end of that, assuming my circumstances haven't changed? Is that the end of it or will they come after me for longer? Thanks

Hello, I wonder if someone could offer me some advice please? I went BR mid-April, and so far so good, just been going along as usual and not heard much from the OR. Hi, I am facing the possibility of going bankrupt, and I have been looking through my past affairs to check that everything will be straightforward. Pension lump sum when on IVA

TV Rental
According to the insolvency service website, you are allowed to rent a TV. Which is great as I am in desperate need of one and with IPO ect will never be able to afford to save for one. Only trouble is, is that all the ones I can find are rent to buy rather than plain rental. Is this going to be ok to the OR???

should I call them?
HI all I went BR last week and my call from the OR was a really good experience. Before I call her back I just wanted to ask anyone if they knew the answer to this first: I owe(d) nearly 2k to the electricity company for dual fuel and I was wondering if and when I should call the elctricity company to tell them I've gone…

Pension Contributions
I was hoping somebody could help. I was hoping to find out what I am allowed to contribute pension wise during a BR. I am hoping 3% of salary is acceptable which would equate to a contribution of around roughly £60 a month. Is an OR likely to see this as an acceptable figure or is it too much? TIA
