Discharged day 1 and confused

Hi there,
I have just been discharged - seems like a long year since I did my little walk into my local courts and went bankrupt.
My question is - I've just looked at my experian file and it still shows all my old accounts with balances - is that right? I though it should have changed to 'satisfied' or 'settled'?
(I also checked my file last week and it's actually gone down by 50 points)! Grrr
Question 2 - when would it be the best time to request for a simple credit card to start getting credit??
Thanks in advance guys.:rotfl::rotfl:

The lenders are slow to act and need a kick up the !!!! to amend your credit file - see the clean up sticky at the top of this forum for the letters to write and they will get changed.
Take no notice of some made up number sold to you by the credit reference agencies (no future lender even sees it) - I've known undischarged bankrupts to have a near perfect score so that tells you how reliable it is!
As for the credit card, you can try vanquis now that you are discharged - I successfully applied about 6 months after discharge but do pay it off in full every month as their interest rates are eye-wateringly high.0 -
CRF are only updated every 4 to 6 weeks - I would leave the credit clean up for a couple of months and if they still haven't been updated, then start following the clean up steps as details be the previous poster.0

Ah cool, that makes sense!
Was hoping to look at it today and see everything change!0 -
I was discharged in 2010 and only started to check my CRA's in March this yr and so much was wrong including active CCJ's that had been paid in full 2.5 yrs ago and the courts had known about them as well, so they do need a little nudge to get them straight before the next big step, you have 5yrs to go for that one so plenty of time.
Good luck in the future hope you do well and show everyone you can do it to.I love green dots :T I hate red dots :mad:0 -
We were discharged April n files not updated sent letters two weeks ago n slowly they r changing to settled. Applying for credit cars won't work we tried n failed .. We did get a simply be account £125 limit n using that's to build up a bit credit but most credit card companies say 18 months after date if BR0

Vanquis took over a year before they decided I was worthy enough for a £1000 limit. How they thought that giving an ex-bankrupty £1000 was the right move I'll never know.
My advice, don't bother trying to build up your credit until you are 100% convinced in yourself that you will be able to control it.0 -
I've received a Vanquis letter today (the second in the past few weeks), it's the usual 'you've been pre-selected' type. I'm due to be discharged on the 01st July and I'm wondering wether it'd be a good idea to apply for one, I'll use it for one thing only (getting petrol) and would pay it in full each month by using the cash for petrol (as per now) to pay the card off, so there'll be no debt at all. I'm not sure whether to do it or not, I want to build my credit status back up over the coming years, but I also need to replace my car as soon as possible and maybe getting a car finance deal which I know will be difficult or expensive, but something that I am now in a position to manage.
Does anyone on here have any similar experience? And do Vanquis really pre-select, or is it as I expect just a computer generated letter?
Thanks for any advice in advance0
