Never EVER whinge about not winning.
The next person to come along will either have won 30 competitions that month, or will have won nothing since 1999.
(Both make you feel bad )
(BTW I've won nowt this month )“I'd rather laugh with the sinners than cry with the saints.” - Billy Joel

My best tip for any newbies would be: don't enter any comps that have just been posted. Allow half an hour at least so that experienced compers have had a chance to add any important corrections or comments. Especially to allow time for someone to query a dodgy looking link. Similarly, always scroll down the thread to read other comments before entering.

I am who I'm meant to be
I'm not scared to be seen
I make no apology

Always contact the prize provider/competition host to thank them and let them know when your prize has arrived. Manners cost nothing and smaller companies are more inclined to hold more competitions if they feel people are grateful for their prize.A closed mouth gathers no feet.0

You need to win a fish slice - it is like a wand to a comper - wave it with pride! (you can always use it for swatting flies, slapping thighs or patting sandcastles if you don't eat fish!):TA big thanks to all who post and sprinkling lucky dust to all who enter :smileyhea0

Dont expect to receive prizes within days of winning them. Some arrive quickly and some take weeks. Some have been known to arrive months after the competition has closed.
Always allow 28 working days before contacting the prize provider.
Happy comping!0 -
be careful with entering via facebook, some companies run scam comps, usually huge prizes for a like and share , and then ask you to complete a 3rd party page which is a data harvesting site. Think exotic holidays, motorhomes, luxury cars with bows etcproud gran to 4 lovely boys and one little girl0

Choose wisely which of your friends you tell about any prizes you have won.0

Got one
My tip:
HOLIDAY COMPS: Read the T&Cs! Don't enter for one if you've used up all this year's holiday and it has to be used by the end of Dec. Don't enter if it's for a family but the T&Cs state 'can't be used in school hols' and you can't take them out of school. Check it includes flights, a hotel, and whatever else might be essential to you. Don't presume they will let you add a person/child. Check not for one person! Don't enter for one you don't want to win then go 'oh no, I didn't actually expect to win that trekking holiday to Outer Mongolia...'
Good luck2023 wins: *must start comping again!*0 -
