Strange eBay / Myhermes problem

Hi,

I'm looking for some help. I sold something on eBay and sent via Myhermes. The website is showing that the item has been delivered. However the buyer is saying a different item has been recieved. The buyer is saying he has received a toolbox which I do not own so it is not a case that I have accidently put the wrong label on. The buyer has sent me a picture of the packaging that he has recieved and it shows the same label and tracking information as what I posted.

I am at a total loss of what to do, I know I have not sent a toolbox and I sent the correct answer. I have tried talking to eBay and they say to contack myhermes and they say as far as they're concerned the item has been delivered, however they are going to investigate.

The other odd thing is the packaging I sent the parcel in was brown paper, the buyer is saying the item came in blue plastic...

I also checked the buyers recent feedback and what he has bought, all postives left for him and he has left nothing but positives left for others. He does not appear to have bought the same item as I sold him from anybody else recently.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!
Merzal

Sorry to say this...but you will just have to refund the buyer & try and make a claim from myhermes.
I think you have very little chance of getting anything from this.

How well did you stick the label on your item?

Sounds like the label has come off and Herpes have stuck it back on (the wrong, but maybe similar size parcel..)

Not sure how to proceed? Refund buyer would be good I guess.

Then get onto MyHerpes and issue a claim. Ask them how many collections they issued under the same "Van Drop" label number - this may track your item down/find the owner of the toolbox?

The label was selotaped on securely, the label that the buyer has received was printed on a sticky label and stuck on. Myhermes are currently looking into it but I can't see that there is anything they can do.
I did wonder at first whether the buyer was just claiming he had received something else to get a refund but this would mean going to extraordinary lengths, the item sold for £75 so this may be a possibility I suppose...

What will happen if the buyer opens a case whilst we are trying to sort the problem out?
    Thanks for the replies!

so is it the same label or not?
I don't think we have the complete story yet....

    I once received a mixed-up parcel at a courier's depot.
I picked up the item, realised it couldn't be what it should have been, and opened it right there.
The counter person did say they had a few parcels arrive in a very tatty condition and just quickly reboxed things with best guess at what label came from what item.

Did the buyer say if there was an invoice in it which might help sort the toolbox out?

Sorry, I wasn't very clear. It is a different label but has all the same details on it, including tracking number, as the one that I printed off and sent.

So the they have become "Herpes" now!!:rotfl:

I have recently started using My Hermes and haven't been putting any invoice inside. Perhaps I should be doing that from now on, just in case the label comes off.

The buyer said that there was no indication to where the toolbox had come from. He assumed that I had got the parcels mixed up.
Cooktuk: your explanation sounds most likely. Did you manage to get your problem sorted?

You could always ask if it's a real nice tool box and to send it back to you lol ;)
