I've posted a thread on another section about civil penalties.
Does anyone reading this section have any experience of the
£50 civil penalty
These came into affect in October 2012 and are imposed by any government benefit agency for failure to notify the agency of any change of circumstances immediatly you came aware of them

As I said earlier..decline the offer of a penalty and go to court.:footie:
Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

They don't have to take you to court, its not a fraud thing offered after an investigation.
Mind if they do take you to court it will cost you considerably more as its an absolute offence. No need for an interview etc, plain and simple, change wasn't notified, here pay us £50 quid.
Nice easy cash cow. Mind you, fufill your side of the claim and this penalty is not an issue.0 -

You are not given the opportunity of an interview
You are not under caution
You are given no proof of evidence
you are not accused of fraud
you are not guilty of any crime
You are purely charged a fixed fee because they aledge they have not received information.
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
it is purely COUGH UP £500 -
Am I the fist person in the Uk to receive a civil penalty ???
Surely someone on this forum has received on before me !!!0 -

So you have received one ok, whats the issue?
You have a signature for delivery of your letter? A letter advising they have received you change notification etc and have actioned accordingly? You have neither but checked they had recieved it?
Or you did jack and got the penalty?
Not sure what your specifically asking about with regards help required!0 -

What happens if you dont pay it?
First sensible question on the thread. More to the point, what happens if you refuse to pay it?..... EDIT ok it wasn't the "first sensible question" there were 2 others before this one.
Does anyone know of the legisation that covers this?
EDIT (see below) doc link, it's section 116 of the welfare reform act 2012
It could become like the DVLA SORN penalty which are unenforceable to those "in the know".You have a signature for delivery of your letter? A letter advising they have received you change notification etc and have actioned accordingly? You have neither but checked they had recieved it?0
