Virgin Mobile 'Outlaw' Tethering For All Customers

Another one bites the dust. They had already suspended tethering for those who signed up after a date in January that I can't remember but wef 28/3/13 there will no tethering allowed across the whole of the Virgin Mobile network and seemingly no chance of an extra cost add on. This, together with their capping of 'normal' speed data to 3.5gb/mth will probably prompt my son to go to Three's One Plan. More expensive of course but seemingly the only solution for someone with no landline who wants internet. A bit fed up of Virgin continually changing the goalposts to be honest...

Well, since they don't have any 'network' they can only work with what EE gives them. Stick with the organ-grinder, not the monkey!0

Update: According to someone on their forums who works for them tethering is only going to be stopped for those on u/l data deals. Marvellous. Not.0

Data is delivered by Virgin Media not EE. But the sale of V what did all expect?SO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... You will be leaving the UK aswell as Europe

Yes. And Yes.
What has your service contract got to do with tethering? A quick read of their obligations will show you they can launch and remove services as and when required.0 -
Virgin Media provide the Internet backhaul for Virgin Mobile, they also provide backhaul to EE & 3's Mobile Broadband Network Ltd for voice, text and data transmission in association with BT back to 3, Orange, Tmobile & EE's server bases.What makes you think this? VM have no mobile infrastructure. All they do is send out Virgin branded bills for reusing EE's infrastructure. It has noting to do with the sale of Virgin Media.
The cost of Virgin Media providing unlimited mobile broadband has everything to do with to do with the sale, subscriber numbers are up for the sale and now the candy has been grabbed from your hands.

Yet more proof that buying a SIM free mobile outright then adding a 30 day SIM deal really is the sensible way to do this mobile malarky. You get shafted, you can be out of there in a month.0

There's actually only one option left, AFAIK, and that's the £25/mth The One Plan (30 day rolling contract).0
