I have a german shepherd who I would love take away for a few days. As long as there are lovely walks, and dog friendly places I don't mind where abouts.
I know there is a company which rents out cottages for dog owners, but really wanted honest reviews or tips from people who have done it.
Also read somewhere about german shepherds not being allowed in some accomodation, anyown experienced this?
Thanks in advance.

Lots of holiday cottages let to dog owners, you don't have to look on one particular site or go to one particular company, just email or ring the owner of a cottage you fancy and ask them. I work for a hol cottage company and we don't advertise with any of the dog-friendly agencies, people just ask us and we tell them which of our properties are good for dogs. We keep two completely pet-free as some guests are allergic. Peak District. Other companies that I know of do the same as long as the dogs stay downstairs and not on furniture, but that's the standard in most homes anyway.
I've taken my dog to hotels, cottages and campsites. Ok she's a german shepherd cross but I've never heard of GS's being any more or less welcome than anything else.

One random example - in a few weeks we're staying in a cottage on the farm below in the Western Lake District (lots of walking around!). They allow dogs (£5 per stay per dog).

And if you get really stuck, I believe you can take a dog to some travel lodges. A fact which I was shocked to hear.“Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?”

I am sure if you turn up without a dog on our site they give you a puppy its so dog friendly. GSD not a problem and never heard of one TBH. Dogs go free too. hard as nails on the internet . wimp in the real world :cool:0

Lots of Haven sites allow dogs, no ban on GSD as far as I know. Littlesea has lots of good walks from the park itself, lovely views of the Fleet Lagoon. Our dogs have always loved it there and would suddenly stand up in the car as we went through the park entrance. Its in Weymouth by the way0

Give us an idea where you want to go? We take our dogs everywhere with us. In fact we returned only hours ago from Cornwall and we stopped on the way down at a lovely b and b where they had 4 dogs of their own, on the way back we stopped at a Best Western hotel with our 2 and we stayed at a 4 star hotel in Cornwall with them and there was a VERY loud GSD there at the same time along with several other dogs.
Which area are you interested in going?0 -
Tanks for all your replies. We are from the midlands and love wales but never been anywhere with our dog. Would love to go to cornwall and stopping off on the way sounds great.Hopeful optimistic.0

Some great eco-cottages in Devon, they are dog friendly! http://www.wheatlandfarm.co.uk/''A moment's thinking is an hour in words.'' -Thomas Hood0

Try this:
We went there last year and had the most fantastic time. They have a kennel also, you can leave your dog in the cottage if you were to go somewhere like the Eden Project and the owner can come and let the dog out at lunch time.
